Kentucky Mesonet adding station near Woodbury in Butler County
The Kentucky Mesonet launched its 66th station in Butler County. It is the first station funded entirely by local stakeholders. The Butler County Extension coordinated the project with local farm leaders and government officials. The station was funded with support from the city of Morgantown, Butler County Fiscal Court, Butler County Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund. Sam and Helen Moore donated the property for the Mesonet site. Click here for the full article.
The first Mesonet station was installed at the Western Kentucky University farm in May, 2007. The project was initially funded with a federal grant to establish the network, but local partnerships like are needed to maintain the integrity of our stations, and to establish new stations to fulfill needs of local communities.
